Sesseljuhús educational center
Designed with environmental stewardship in mind, the Sesseljuhús Center for Sustainable Development is the academic facility of the village. Named after the founder of Solheimar, Sesselja Sigmundsdóttir, this building offers every modern technology you might need to organize educational lectures or group sessions.
The construction of Sesseljuhus involved materials that met strict guidelines for low environmental impact, high utility, and health consciousness. Materials in Sesseljuhus were chosen only if they pose no health hazard, were sourced or created locally, can be responsibly disposed of, and are not part of any socially irresponsible process in either transportation or manufacturing. What we have isa beautiful modern building generating electricity from solar and wind devices. With its turf roof it blends into the landscape to give all who enter a feeling of harmony with the surroundings.
Some of the facilities Sesseljuhús can offer are;
• Large auditorium for 100 people, equipped with advanced technical equipment including a large screen, computer, beamer and surround sound system
• Different sized classrooms and meeting rooms
• Large common area that seats 50 people, with lounge and fireplace that can be sealed off, in order to create a quiet and peaceful area
